I help ideas find their most resonant form.

BILLIE LEE,
CREATIVE ADVISOR & STRATEGIST

I work with authors, artists, founders, and organizations at pivotal moments when the work is ready to go deeper.
I help you uncover what matters, see what needs to change, and shape the work into its most resonant form—one that can move people.

I will never write a book without Billie in my corner again.
— Rachel Rodgers, Author, We Should All Be Millionaires & CEO, Hello Seven

Often, the most difficult part of making something is seeing it clearly from the inside.

I come in as a kind of magic mirror: reflecting back what is there and asking the questions that reveal what is needed.

I notice connections and possibilities that may be difficult to see on your own.

A book. A proposal. A story or message. A workshop or experience.

Whatever the form, we find a way toward its strongest expression.

Billie has the rare ability to understand a challenge in its full complexity and design an approach that others might not have seen. She moves fluidly between the larger structure and the particular, recognizing where an intervention can make the greatest difference.
— Carol Padberg, Founding Director, Confluence MFA Program

I’ve spent more than twenty years learning how to look and read closely. I bring an artist’s eye, an editor’s discernment, a researcher’s rigor, and an educator’s instinct for creating the conditions for discovery.

I’ve helped award-winning authors clarify the central promise of their books and bring manuscripts that had stalled for years into publication-ready form. I’ve guided artists to articulate the stakes of their work in competitive grant applications. And I’ve designed learning experiences that have reached hundreds of participants across more than a dozen universities and cultural institutions.

She understands that intellectual rigor and creative writing are not competing values. Her great gift as an editor is helping a writer bring them into closer relation.
— Jaimey Hamilton Faris, Author, Held By the Currents: The Arts of Water Care

What I love is the moment something comes into focus: the idea sharpens, the pieces cohere, and you can finally see what the work wants to become—and what it requires of you.

That’s the work I want to do with you.

HOW WE BEGIN

We start with a 60-minute consultation. Bring me the idea, the project, or the questions you’re working through. Together, we’ll look closely at what’s there, what may be missing, and what the work is asking for.

Sometimes, that conversation is all you need. If the work calls for deeper support, I’ll follow up with a proposal shaped around your project, timeline, and where I can make the greatest difference.

Bookings open one-month in advance. Limited reduced-rate sessions are available for those for whom the full fee is a barrier. Contact me to inquire.
